Max Denton lived on the west side of Wabash Street as a young adult. Info from Sherman Collins. He was 5 when he lived in that home. (I was born in 1930, says Sherman). Sherman Collins lived in the home with Max Denton and his mother. Sherman’s father temporarily rented the upstairs. Sherman’s father then found a long-term job at the federal prison. Sherman’s father came to Milan in the early forties. Max was living in that home with his mother when Sherman moved in. Max’s father wasn’t there that I know about, says Sherman. That house was about 6 hourses or within 6 houses of the dam. Probably 326 Wabash, he says. Sherman recalls that after Max’s death, his mother remained bitter for a long time, since she had lost her husband and then lost her only child, leaving her alone. |
