Francis Austin McKindley and his wife, Helen Howard McKindley.
Farmers in Berrien County, Michigan. He fought in the Civil War and then married the sister of his Army buddy.
Francis was born in 1847 and died in 1921.  Helen was born in 1845 and died in 1926. They are buried in the Pearl Grange Cemetery along Napier Road southeast of Benton Harbor, Michigan.

Helen's parents: Sylvesta Easton Howard and John F. Howard. They were farmers near Pearl Grange southeast of Benton Harbor, Michigan.  Sylvesta was blind, and John was "crippled" with arthritis.  In spite of his disability, he cleared the forest for farm land.
