McKINDLEY-CRANS

A wedding that had been indefinitely planned for later in autumn came to a sudden and romantic culmination last evening when Miss Jeanette Crans, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W. K. Crans of St. Joseph, became the bride of William Myrl McKindley, son of Cynthia McKindley of Ben-ton Harbor. The scene of the nuptials was the home of Dr. and Mrs. F. M. Kerry on Branson ave-nue, Benton Harbor, who were en-tertaining in honor of their 25th wedding anniversary. The unexpected event on the program was delightfully if hastily arranged and the license obtained from a sleepy eyed county clerk.

Dr. Clark Wheeler, pastor of the bride, joined the wedding party and about 11 o'clock, to the strains of Lohengrin's wedding march, played by Mrs. Dora Ferry Hall the bridal couple took their places at the end of the long living room. The bride was given in marriage by her father. Her only attendant was her sister, Mrs. Stanley R. Curtis of Columbus, O., and the groom was attended by the bride's brother, Peter W. Crans.

The bride wore a becoming dress of blue taffeta and a corsage bouquet of white asters tied with the ribbons used on Mrs. Kerry's bou-quet 25 years ago.

The three year old niece of the bride, Miss Anna Frances Curtis carried the ring in a tiny white lace basket.

Mrs. Kerry wore the white organdy dress and kid slippers she had worn on her wedding night and the ring bearer wore a dainty white organdy frock fashioned from one breadth of the gown worn by her grandmother who was a sister of Mrs. Kerry's and married at the same time to Mr. W. D. Curtis.

All the members of the immediate families were present. The two bridal couples made plans to celebrate together their golden and silver anniversaries.

Mr. and Mrs. McKindley will leave in the near future for an extended wedding trip.

[NOTE: Jeanette made a chance remark to Myrl about getting married.  Lucy Kerry urged Myrl to act quickly before the opportunity was lost.  So, Myrl asked her to marry him that very evening!]

[NOTE:  Jeanette's sister, Wilhelmena, had married Stanley Curtis. Stanley was the son of Mrs. Kerry's sister. Dr. and Mrs. Kerry adopted Stanley and raised him as a son after Stanley's mother died.]

[NOTE: Mom refers to Mrs. Kerry as "Aunt Lucy." Mom says that Aunt Lucy's sister adopted Stanley Curtis as a baby because the mother had died. Lucy picked up the baby from his home in Royal Oak and transported him to Benton Harbor in a peach basket.]
