His parents were Ebenezer Howard and Dorothy Ormsby. John Howard married Lavinah Harris on December 24, 1783 in Manchester, VT. Lavinah was born in about 1765, and died after 1810 in Ellisburg, New York. It is not known who her parents were. John and Lavina had seven children, as follows:
Ebenezer Howard Ebenezer Howard was born sometime before 1734, probably in Cumberland, Rhode Island. He married Dorothy Ormsby on Feb. 11, 1759 in Cumberland, Rhode Island. Dorothy Ormsby was born April 27, 1734 in Rehoboth, Mass. Ebenezer and Dorothy had three children, as follows: Hannah Howard, born March 21, 1765 in Bridgewater, Plymouth, Mass. On August 23, 1781, she married Joshua Rose (b. about 1763) in Mancheser, VT, and had four children. John Howard, born about 1760 in Glocester, Mass. Gideon Howard, born Sept. 20, 1765. In about 1795 he married Ruth Austin (who was born Sept. 20, 1761 in Suffield, Conn.) and had five children. Gideon died August 9, 1805 and is probably buried in Ellisburg, New York. Ebenezer probably died in Manchester, Vermont. ORMSBY FAMILY TREE Dorothy Ormsby Dorothy Ormsby was born April 27, 1734 in Rehoboth, Mass. Her parents were Jonathon Ormsby Jr., and Rebecca Carpenter. Dorothy had a sister, Experience Ormsby, and a brother, Gideon Ormsby. She married Ebenezer Howard and had three children, including John Howard. She may have died in Manchester, Vermont, and may have been buried in Ellisburg, New York. Jonathon Ormsby, Jr. Jonathon Ormsby, Jr. was born May 1, 1705 in Rehoboth, Mass. His parents were Jonathon Ormsby, Sr., and Mercy Abbe. On November 7, 1728, he married his first wife, Experience Chaffee, in Rehoboth, Mass. She had been born July 1, 1705 in Rehoboth. They had a child, Jonathan Ormsby, who was born August 21, 1729 in Rehoboth, Mass. On July 13, 1730, he married his second wife, Rebecca Carpenter. Rebecca was born Nov. 4, 1694 in Rehoboth, Mass.
