FAMILY OF STEPHEN AND EXPERIENCE ELLIS CHURCHILL

Stephen Churchill was born February 16, 1685, the son of Eliezer and Mary Churchill. In 1708, he married Experience Ellis, who was the daughter of Matthias, from a place called Sandwich.. Stephen and Experience had six children. Stephen died in 1750.

  1. Ephraim, born October 15, 1709. Married on March 27, 1730, to Priscilla Manchester, and had eight children. Ephraim died December 14, 1749. In the family tree materials, he is referred to as "Ephraim I" because he had a grandson also named Ephraim, who is in our lineage.
  2. Nathaniel, born December 19, 1712. He married on January 2, 1733, to Mary Curtis and had 4 children.
  3. Mary, born April 29, 1716, and died December 13, 1716.
  4. Stephen, born August 24, 1717. He married Hannah Barnes on July 4, 1738, and had seven children.
  5. Zaccheus, born October 30, 1719. He died November 18, 1732.
  6. Benjamin, born August 19, 1725. He married Ruth DeLong on November 3, 1746 and had nine children.

 

FAMILY OF ELIEZER CHURCHILL

Eliezer Churchill was born April 20, 1652, the son of John and Hannah Churchill. He died about 1716. Eliezer was propounded a freeman in 1683 when he was only 31. His first six children were by his first wife, Mary (last name unknown). He had five more children by his second wife, Mary Doty. The children of Eliezer Churchill were as follows:

  1. Hannah, born August 23, 1676. She was unmarried in 1715.
  2. Joanna, born November 25, 1678. She was also unmarried in 1715.
  3. Abigail, born 1680, had seven children. Her first husband was Francis Billington, whom she married in 1703. She married her second husband, Nathaniel Hawland, in 1723.
  4. Eliezer, born February 23, 1682. He married Hannah Bartlett and had four children.
  5. Stephen, born February 16, 1685. In 1708, he married a woman whose first name was Experience. He had six children. He died in 1750.
  6. Jedidah, born February 27, 1687. She married Thomas Harlow on Dec. 1, 1707. She had seven children.
  7. Mary, born 1688. Married on December 23, 1708 to Edward Stevens and had seven children.
  8. Elkanah, born March 1, 1691. Married December 24, 1720 to Suzannah Manchester, and had three children.
  9. Nathaniel, born April 16, 1693, died March 24, 1714, at age 20.
  10. Josiah, born 1694.
  11. John, born September 12, 1698. Married Mary Jackson. Had 12 children. Then he married Mrs. Elizabeth Cotton.
